A joint venture between Samsung Electronics and R&R Industries has finally brought to fruition its first-ever television (TV) line-up facility in Karachi, Pakistan.
“We congratulate Samsung Electronics on operationalizing its first TV Line-up plant in Pakistan at Karachi in collaboration with R&R Industries,” Advisor to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood tweeted on Monday. Initially, the plant will produce 50,000 televisions, but it will be able to produce 100,000 in two years.
Dawood said, “This is in accordance with MOC [Ministry of Commerce] Make-in-Pakistan. I strongly encourage all of Pakistan’s businesses to collaborate with leading international corporations in order to set up operations in Pakistan.”
The “Make-in-Pakistan” policy of the Ministry of Commerce aims to promote import substitution, local business development, and promotion in addition to generating value-added exports, and this is worth mentioning here. With this arrangement, Pakistan will be able to regain its financial integrity and achieve a balanced current account.
Tecno, Infinix and Itel as well as Vivo, Oppo, and Realme, all are manufacturing in Pakistan.
