When Temel Kotil, President and CEO of Turkish Aersospace Industries (TAI), appeared on Aaj News earlier this week to talk about the company’s latest developments, he shared the news with the audience.

TAI opened its first Pakistani office in Pakistan’s first technological park, the National Science & Technology Park, in 2019, which deserves to be recognised.

According to Air Vice-Marshal Dr. Rizwan Riaz, Pro-Rector Research, Innovation & Commercialization (RIC) at National University of Science and Technology (NUST), “This is a fifth-generation fighter aircraft in which Pakistan and Turkey are now cooperating” (NUST).

As a result, students and researchers here receive smaller amounts of work from the Turkish team running the programme. Dr Riaz further on the project work process by stating that “components of the project are separated into smaller jobs, which are then merged.”

“Kotil and his staff are in Pakistan,” Dr. Riaz added, “and they’re excited about the prospect of expanding our facilities.”

He claimed that NUST had previously worked with the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and the Pakistan Air Force on comparable initiatives (PAF).

He added that his company is bringing products to Pakistan, as well. Rather than inviting Pakistani engineers to Turkey, he argues, this is more realistic.

Purchasing helicopters and developing drone technology are just two examples of Pakistan and Turkey’s involvement in various defence ventures.

Anka unmanned aerial vehicles, which TAI will develop under a contract with Pakistan’s National Engineering and Science Commission (NESCOM), were signed last year.

Components belonging to Ankra will be manufactured and developed within the scope of the contract. According to the announcement, employment, resource allocation, and technology transfer would be handled jointly by TAI and NESCOM.
