Politicians adore using publicity stunts to get public sympathy and support. Posing with children is one of the most usual and stereotyped moves. A well-known public figure “adorably” engaging with a tiny child generates positive press! And right now, every Pakistani political party desires good public relations.

Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), recently won the hearts of the people after visiting a young kid in Bani Gala. The young man, who had travelled all the way from KPK, spoke passionately about meeting his Kaptaan before he died. Imran Khan kindly granted the boy’s desires, and the video went viral.

This move earned Imran Khan brownie points with the Pakistani awaam. Officials from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) posted a video of Maryam Nawaz having a “sweet” interaction with a couple of children after feeling left out.

Maryam Nawaz appears unconcerned about the children, even saying to one of them, “Idhar aao (Come here)” in a nonchalant manner.

Not to be outdone, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), had a meet-and-greet with a young fan. Some PPP leaders brought their children to the event as “fans” who wanted to see Bilawal.

While having an embarrassing talk with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the tiny kids appeared to be feeling their “Kaampien Tang Rahi Hai.”

With the way today’s politicians mix with children, one Twitter user sums up the trend with a humorous meme.
