The Device Identifications and Registration Database (DIRBS) system of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is freely available to the general public for the purpose of mobile device registration.
In the wake of the recent increase in PTA taxes on the registration of cellular mobile devices and handsets, PTA made this disclosure to clarify misconceptions about the PTA taxes.
Registration taxes and duties are collected by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), not by PTA, which only provides technical assistance in the form of DIRBS to those wishing to register their mobile devices for use in Pakistan. PTA is a non-profit organisation. It is FBR’s responsibility to apply and deposit taxes and duties collected during the process.
It should be noted that an applicant can access the FBR link to learn about the most up-to-date taxes and duties related to the registration of various devices.
