Renowned host Javeria Saud faces public backlash and potential legal action after allegedly using a fake childhood photo of Yumna Zaidi in her Eid show, sparking widespread outrage.
The recent Eid special transmission on Express Entertainment saw veteran host Javeria Saud embroiled in a significant controversy. During a segment asking guests to identify Yumna Zaidi, a picture was displayed that was later confirmed not to be of the acclaimed actress. This misstep, coupled with Javeria Saud’s remarks about the person in the photo being an “actor who has been working since the stone age but became a star only recently,” has ignited a firestorm across social media platforms.

Javeria Saud, a household name in Pakistani television, has carved a niche for herself as a versatile actress, producer, and a popular TV host. Known for her engaging personality and long-standing career in the entertainment industry, she has been a consistent presence on our screens for decades. From acting in memorable dramas to hosting various morning shows and Eid specials, Javeria has maintained a strong connection with her audience. Her official Instagram account, Javeria Saud, often features glimpses into her personal life and professional endeavors.

The gravity of the situation escalated when the father of the young girl depicted in the fake photograph, Abdul Fahid Hamid, came forward. He contacted All Pakistani Drama Page, revealing that the picture of his daughter, Faryal Hamid, was taken from his wife’s public social media account without consent and used on Express TV. In a powerful statement, Mr. Hamid asserted, “My daughter’s name is Faryal Hamid. Her picture was used on the show to mock and disrespect Yumna Zaidi. The host Javeria and the guest showed my daughter’s picture, which was not Yumna’s childhood photo—it was actually Faryal’s, who is my daughter. A mistaken, fake, and stolen identity was used, resulting in defamation of character. This is a serious matter. It also raises concerns regarding sensitive safeguarding, which I have brought up. Legal action will be taken from our side.” This declaration confirms the intent to pursue legal recourse against the show and its hosts, highlighting serious issues of privacy and media ethics.

The incident has provoked strong reactions from the public, with many social media users commending Faryal’s father for taking a firm stand against what they perceive as irresponsible media practices. Calls for action against prominent hosts like Javeria Saud, Fiza Ali, and Nida Yasir by PEMRA are gaining momentum, underscoring the demand for greater accountability in television content. This unfolding situation serves as a stark reminder of the responsibilities that come with media influence and the potential repercussions of unverified content.
