Veteran actor Waseem Abbas clears the air about his viral Karachi stay comments, revealing the real reason he prefers a guest house over his son’s home.
Waseem Abbas, one of Pakistan’s most celebrated actors with a career spanning over four decades, has finally addressed the controversy that erupted after his comments about staying at a guest house during his Karachi visits went viral. Speaking on Gup Shab, hosted by Vasay Chaudhary, the actor clarified that his decision had nothing to do with any disrespect from his family and everything to do with not wanting to burden his daughter-in-law.

With a filmography that includes iconic dramas like Raiza Raiza, Family Front, Sannata, Din, Hissar, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Mere Humsafar, Ashiyana, Landa Bazar, and Prem Gali, Abbas has cemented himself as a pillar of Pakistani entertainment. Known for his unapologetic opinions on controversies and current affairs, the actor rarely shies away from speaking his mind — which is precisely what landed him in this latest media storm.

During the candid podcast appearance, Abbas explained his side of the story in detail. “I didn’t mean that my daughter-in-law or son don’t respect me. My daughter-in-law does each chore by herself. Whenever I stay with them, she cooks food for me, prepares fresh rotis, and serves me hot meals. I often tell her to keep the food in the microwave because I feel that I put her through unnecessary trouble,” he revealed. The seasoned performer emphasized that he chose the guest house arrangement out of consideration, not conflict, adding that he can afford the accommodation and still spends weekends at his son’s home. The family continues to function as a joint unit, with his daughter and daughter-in-law based in Lahore while they await his son’s arrival.

Beyond the guest house debate, Abbas also spoke with deep emotion about his son Ali, sharing a heartfelt tribute alongside a photograph. “This is my picture with Ali. I wrote the caption, ‘Me and Me.’ He is my son, he is my shadow, and you will find me in him even after I die,” Abbas said. With four children and a tightly knit joint family structure, Abbas made it clear that the viral narrative was blown out of proportion. “I don’t know how such a small thing was exaggerated and turned into a controversy in the podcasts,” he remarked, summing up the frustration of a veteran artist who simply wanted to spare his daughter-in-law some extra effort. As Abbas continues to dominate screens with his compelling performances, this candid revelation only reinforces the grounded, family-first values that have defined his personal life alongside his illustrious career.
