Psychologist and social media personality Dr. Nabiha Ali Khan sparks outrage by blaming modern women’s behavior for increased violence and rape cases.
Dr. Nabiha Ali Khan, a psychologist and prominent social media personality, has ignited a fierce debate with her recent remarks on the causes of violence against women. During an appearance on the Bluetruth Digital podcast, Dr. Khan controversially attributed the rise in rape cases and violence against women to the behavior of modern women themselves, sparking widespread outrage across social media platforms.

Known more for her personal life and provocative statements than her academic background, Dr. Nabiha Ali Khan often lectures women on maintaining their dignity and character. Her public commentary frequently draws attention, and she maintains an active presence on social media, including her Instagram where she shares her perspectives with a significant following. Her recent comments have, however, garnered unprecedented backlash, positioning her firmly in the spotlight of public scrutiny.

During the podcast, Dr. Khan asserted that women who engage in friendships with men, ‘use them and hanker them around,’ are inadvertently inviting violent repercussions. She explicitly stated that such interactions lead men to ‘kidnap them and force them in return,’ thereby increasing these cases. She drew a distinction, arguing that while kidnapping from a home is a clear crime, women who ‘get into cars of these new age criminals willingly’ are contributing to their own peril. This victim-blaming narrative has been met with immediate and strong condemnation from various corners of the internet, with many calling her statements irresponsible and harmful.

The internet’s reaction has been swift and severe. Comments flooded social media, with one user urging her to ‘keep your mouth shut,’ and another questioning, ‘So people who are getting raped are in the fault?’ Many labeled her remarks as ‘pick me behavior,’ highlighting the deeply ingrained issue of victim-blaming in society. This incident underscores the ongoing societal debate surrounding gender roles, personal responsibility, and the systemic issues contributing to violence against women. It remains to be seen how Dr. Khan will respond to the widespread criticism and whether her stance will evolve amidst the public outcry.
