Cast members Kubra Khan and Shuja Asad pushed to film a secret alternate ending for their hit drama Dr Bahu.
The hit television drama Dr Bahu captured wide acclaim for tackling intricate societal themes like relationship narcissism and female autonomy, yet its finale left audiences disappointed. Following the broadcast, viewers criticized the abrupt conclusion that left several major character arcs unresolved. Director Mehreen Jabbar recently revealed that the core creative team actively sought to shoot a proper alternate ending to offer fans complete closure.

Leading actress Kubra Khan, who has built a distinguished career delivering powerful performances across mainstream Pakistani cinema and television, spearheaded the effort alongside her co-stars. Recognizing that the narrative felt unfinished, the cast pushed hard to bring authentic resolution to their respective roles before the show went off the air completely.

The proposed supplementary sequence would have reshaped the ultimate fates of every main character. Under the original plan devised by Kubra Khan, Shuja Asad, writer, and director, Minna would be integrated properly, Shahnawaz would face real consequences after losing everything, and Hajra would achieve personal happiness. The cast felt so strongly about filming these extra scenes that they volunteered to shoot them on a smartphone camera, but conflicting professional production schedules ultimately prevented the shoot.
While production constraints blocked the vision, the cast’s dedication highlights their deep commitment to storytelling integrity. Do you think prime-time television serials should routinely film alternate endings when main storylines fail to satisfy audience expectations?
