Ban on Celebrities in Ramadan Transmissions Demanded in Punjab Assembly

The holy month of Ramadan is just a few days away and Ramadan shows on all leading channels have kickstarted their round of public registrations.

In a recent move, the Punjab Assembly has passed a unanimous resolution to ban celebrities from attending and hosting transmissions throughout the month.

The purpose of the resolution is to persuade Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to ban stars and popular entertainment luminaires to feature in Ramadan transmission.

The members of the assembly condemned the idea of celebrities hosting Ramadan programs instead of religious scholars helming the content as they lack the knowledge needed to conduct the transmissions.

Like every year, ARY has announced its Ramadan transmission featuring its regular ambassadors; Fahad Mustafa, Nida Yasir, Waseem Badami, Iqrar Ul Hasan, and Faysal Quraishi.

Aamir Liaquat is heading to PTV this year to conduct his Ramadan transmission.
