Gallery Go | Specially For Offline Use
The app is now available on the Play-store for all android devices running version 8.1 or above. It is said to take up only 10MB of space on your device and is likely to serve as an alternative to Google Photos for under powered devices. In the app’s description on Playstore Google noted that,
“Gallery Go comes in a small file size which means even more space for your own photos. All while using less memory on your device – so it won’t slow down your phone,”
Its concept seems to follow that of Google Photos quite closely. It too is said to use software to organize and manage photos. However unlike Google Photos it does not require an active internet connection at all times. Google has said that,
“Gallery Go helps first time smartphone owners easily find, edit, and manage photos, without the need for access to high-speed internet or cloud backup,”
Google also says that the app works well with SD cards. Users can create and access folders directly from the memory cards using this app. Gallery Go also comes with auto-enhance support, filters, and a number of basic editing options like crop and rotate. While this app might come as a pleasant surprise for some Android users others have complaints. Users say they wish Google had taken into account devices running versions below 8.1 into thought when developing the app as it is not compatible with their devices.
