Seems like the two time Academy and three times Emmy Award winner Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy is ready to add another feather to her hat of success. We say this because, SOC has partnered with the world’s leading streaming giant, Netflix, for the release and distribution of her animated film, Sitara.

Written and directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Sitara: LET GIRLS DREAM will revolve around a fourteen year old girl, Pari and her dreams of becoming a pilot. Sitara is an animated short film about a young girl growing up in a society that doesn’t allow her to dream. Pari’s tale will be narrated through the perspective of her younger sister, Mehr and will bring across the story of the burdens of a family and the impact of a culture where girls are still struggling to fully realize their dreams.

In a first, Sitara will be a silent film with no dialogues and will be embody Pari’s struggle through animations.

Sitara: Let Girls Dreamhas been created by Waadi Animations and will be available to a global audience on Netflix.

“We hope it will lead to thoughtful discussions as we also begin screening the film in schools and community centers around the world. We strongly believe that Investing in the dreams of young girls will lead to a more equitable world,” said Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, producer, writer and director of the film.

The music for Sitara has been composed by Grammy and Emmy Award-Winning composer Laura Karpman.
