Akhtar claimed that he had not given his consent or approval for the film and that he had obtained a stay order from the court to stop the filming and release of the film. He also warned that anyone involved in the project would face legal consequences. However, the makers of the film denied any wrongdoing and said that they had done extensive research and interviews with people close to Akhtar to make the film authentic and respectful.
