An ICC spokesperson told Geo News that Zainab was not deported and that she had left for personal reasons. Zainab herself did not comment on the matter publicly, but she posted a picture of herself with her son on Instagram on October 9, 2023, with the caption “Home sweet home” .
Zainab Abbas was supposed to travel to different cities where Pakistan was scheduled to play, including Bengaluru, Chennai, and Ahmedabad. She had arrived in Hyderabad last week and was present at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium for Pakistan’s World Cup opener against the Netherlands on October 6.
Zainab Abbas is not the only Pakistani who faced difficulties in traveling to India for the World Cup 2023. The Pakistan cricket team faced delays in getting their visas, and India has not yet issued visas for Pakistani fans and journalists despite many reminders from the Pakistan Cricket Board.
