Public outcry mounts against Nida Yasir’s morning show, Good Morning Pakistan, after a controversial handling of the Faryal Gohar and Jamal Shah dispute, leading to demands for a ban.
A significant backlash has erupted against popular television host Nida Yasir and her long-running morning show, Good Morning Pakistan. Viewers are calling for a permanent ban on the program following its handling of the Faryal Gohar and Jamal Shah controversy. The outcry intensified after Faryal Gohar, initially presented in a romantic light with Jamal Shah during a Ramzan segment, later appeared on the same show to accuse him of domestic violence, leading to accusations of hypocritical broadcasting.

Nida Yasir, a prominent figure in Pakistani television, boasts a substantial fan following on social media, with 2.6 million followers on Nida Yasir’s Instagram. She has helmed Good Morning Pakistan for approximately 19 years, making it one of the most enduring morning shows in the country. The program is known for its diverse content, including discussions, drama promotions, and celebrity interviews, often making headlines for its unconventional segments and controversial topics.

The controversy escalated when Jamal Shah publicly addressed the situation, stating his belief that the interview with Faryal Gohar, in which she made serious allegations, might have been “
planted.”
He recounted how the same channel had previously invited him and Faryal for a “
lovey-dovey”
discussion and even offered them a biopic, which he declined. Shah suggested that the accusations could be part of a script to create a drama series about their relationship, an endeavor he wishes to avoid. This stark contrast in narratives has led many viewers to question the integrity of the show and its host.

The public reaction has been swift and severe, with many viewers criticizing Nida Yasir’s perceived focus on TRPs (Television Rating Points) and suggesting that her questions to Faryal Gohar appeared scripted to elicit specific responses. Fans are expressing their exasperation, claiming that the show has repeatedly sparked controversies and allegedly degraded artists over the years. The calls for Nida Yasir’s resignation and a ban on Good Morning Pakistan highlight a growing demand for more responsible and ethical broadcasting from morning shows.
