Recent incident of gang rape on Lahore Motorway shocked whole nation. Increasing rape cases of teenage girls, women and even 6 year old boys/girls got retaliatory voices from whole Pakistan. This new incident has sparked a new debate and there is an outrage on social media. People from every corner of life got frustrated and scared for their children’s safety.
Social media flooded with different hashtags demanding for public hanging of rapists. Politicians, Celebrities and general public all demanding capital punishment for such animals who are ruining lives of people.
Yesterday, thousands of people gathered from every corner of Pakistan to protest and asking for strict action in their cities. Protesters demanded safety and security for women. They also removal of the CCPO from his post due to his insensitive remarks and blaming the survivor.
The main demands of protesters are:
Safety and health, Introduce gender-sensitive curricula, immediate removal of CCPO Lahore, increase government’s spending on women’s education, women and feminists must be given space for independent political action.
