Indian digital creator Milan Thakur faces online criticism after copying a scene from Green Entertainment drama Mitti De Baway.
Pakistani drama Mitti De Baway, currently airing on Green Entertainment, has sparked cross-border chatter after an Indian digital creator duplicated one of its most emotional scenes. Written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain, the television series has amassed millions of views across digital platforms. The drama features a high-profile ensemble including Mahira Khan, Wahaj Ali, Amar Khan, Junaid Khan, and Syed Rambo.

Content creator Milan Thakur published a sequence mimicking the exact beats of a prominent mourning scene from the show. The original sequence portrays the emotional interaction between the character Balaa and his late uncle’s widow, played by Hina Afridi. The remake drew immediate comparisons from social media users tracking television trends in both nations.

Viewers highlighted the shot-for-shot similarities between the digital reel and the television broadcast produced by Tehreem Chaudhary and Nina Kashif. Commenters criticized the lack of original narrative ideas, noting that while the Indian recreation mirrored the staging, it failed to capture the screen presence delivered by the original actors. Online discussions centered on the trend of digital influencers borrowing heavily from mainstream Pakistani drama serials.

As Pakistani television content continues to command substantial viewership across the border, cross-border content sharing remains a frequent topic among digital audiences. Will international influencers start crediting original drama writers and directors when adapting key story arcs for social media?
