Actor and influencer Khaqan Shahnawaz recently sparked a debate by criticizing Pakistani celebrities for publicly sharing images of slaughtered sacrificial animals during Eid-ul-Adha.
The recent celebration of Eid-ul-Adha saw a wave of public sentiment stirred as several Pakistani celebrities shared their sacrificial routines on social media. Among those who garnered significant attention was actor Ali Raza, who posted a complete photoshoot detailing his family’s slaughter process. His posts, which featured freshly sacrificed goats and him posing with meat and knives, sparked considerable debate and drew criticism from a segment of the audience who found the display insensitive.

Amidst the public discourse, actor and influencer Khaqan Shahnawaz stepped forward to address the issue. Known for his candid opinions and engaging social media presence, Khaqan Shahnawaz has built a reputation for speaking out on matters he deems important. His career spans various roles in television and digital content, establishing him as a prominent voice in the industry.

Ali Raza‘s detailed pictorials were not isolated incidents; other prominent personalities such as Muneeb Butt, Maya Khan, and Jannat Mirza also shared glimpses of their Qurbani preparations and meat packaging. This trend prompted Khaqan Shahnawaz to issue a strong statement, emphasizing the sanctity of the act. He wrote, “Zibah huay janwaroun ko post karna, jahil honay ki aik nishani hai. Qurbani ke janwar ki izzat karein. Woh Allah ke liye qurban kiye jatay hain, social media par posing ke liye nahi – Those who post sacrificed animals are illiterate. The sacrificial animal deserves respect because it is sacrificed in the name of Allah. Such moments should not be used for social media posing.” His words underscored the belief that the sacrifice is a deeply personal and reverent act for Allah, not a spectacle for public consumption.

This public admonishment by Khaqan Shahnawaz highlights a growing conversation about celebrity conduct and the appropriate use of social media, especially concerning religious observances. As digital platforms continue to blur the lines between private and public life, the question remains: where should celebrities draw the line when sharing personal moments, particularly those with deep religious significance? Fans are left to ponder whether such displays enhance or detract from the true spirit of Eid-ul-Adha.
