VirusTotal is a great service for scanning files and URLs. You can scan a file with Virus Total even if it is not installed. For this you have to send your file via email to Virus Total, after which you will be sent the file report by email. Because this service is used via email, it can be used to a limited extent.

This means you can’t send Ex files via email, nor can you send files larger than 25 MB. You can use any email service you want and send multiple files at once.
- First, open your email account and compose a new email.
- Then attach the file and write Scan in the title of the email and send it to [email protected].
After a while you will receive a scan report of the file from the reply email. This report contains the date and time of scanning the file with the virus total. It will have the file name, size and file hash (MD5 and SHA1). Virus Total scans your sent file with the help of more than 50 softwares and also provides a report of each software.
